What does a wedding DJ cost in the Lehigh Valley in 2027?
We pulled every DJ with a published starting price from Zola's Lehigh Valley search on October 28, 2026. Here's how the 25 listings break down:
Starting price | DJs listed | Share |
Under $1,000 | 6 | 24% |
$1,000 to $1,999 | 16 | 64% |
$2,000 and up | 3 | 12% |
The median starting price was $1,399 and the average was about $1,555. For context, the national average couples actually paid for a reception DJ was $1,800, according to The Knot 2026 Real Weddings Study of 10,474 couples married in 2025. Couples in the Mid-Atlantic paid more, averaging $2,500 (The Knot).
A "starting at" price is the floor, not the quote. It's usually reception-only, on a shorter timeline, with basic dance floor lighting.
What do you get at each price level?
Budget range | What's usually included | What's usually extra |
Under $1,000 | 3–4 hours of reception music, one DJ, basic sound | Ceremony sound, cocktail hour, MC planning, backup gear, insurance certificate |
$1,000 to $2,000 | 4 hours of reception DJ + MC, planning call, dance floor lighting | Ceremony mics, uplighting, extra hours |
$2,000 to $3,000 | Ceremony + cocktail hour + reception, wireless mics, planning app or portal, backup equipment | Effects like cold sparks or dancing on a cloud, photo booth |
$3,000+ | Full-day coverage, room uplighting, monogram, multiple staff | Specialty effects, live musician add-ons |
The biggest jump in price isn't the DJ. It's coverage. A reception-only DJ and a DJ who runs your ceremony audio, cocktail hour, and reception are two different jobs.

What adds to the price of a wedding DJ?
These are the line items that change a Lehigh Valley quote most, in order of how often we see them:
Ceremony audio. If your ceremony is on-site, you need mics for the officiant and vows. Many outdoor ceremonies at estates and barns need a separate speaker setup.
Extra reception time. Most packages cover 4 hours. Ask the overtime rate before you sign.
Uplighting. Worth it in rooms with plain walls. Often unnecessary in a barn with exposed beams. See our guide to which wedding effects are worth it.
Power. We need two grounded 15-amp outlets within 100 feet of setup. If a venue can't provide that, a generator adds $400.
Travel. We add $250 only for events more than 100 miles from our office. Anywhere in the Lehigh Valley, Bucks County, or the Poconos is within range.
Venue rules. Some venues set volume limits, load-in windows, or staffing requirements in vendor agreements. Ask your venue for its vendor rules early.
Local context matters here. A historic room like Historic Hotel Bethlehem, a mansion venue like Sayre Mansion, an urban space like Vault 634 in Allentown, and a converted barn each have different load-in, power, and sound needs.
Is a wedding DJ cheaper in the Lehigh Valley than in New Jersey?
Overall weddings are, but DJ pricing is closer than you'd think. The Knot puts the average Pennsylvania wedding at $36,000 and the average New Jersey wedding at $57,000.
DJ costs don't scale with guest count the way catering does. So a $2,300 DJ package is about 6% of an average Pennsylvania wedding budget and about 4% of an average New Jersey one. For New Jersey pricing, see our New Jersey wedding DJ cost guide.
When should you book a Lehigh Valley wedding DJ for 2027?
Book as soon as your venue contract is signed. Peak 2027 Saturdays in May, June, September, and October are the first to go.

How to compare Lehigh Valley wedding DJ quotes
Line up the hours. Compare reception hours, cocktail hour, and ceremony coverage side by side, not the headline price.
Get the DJ's name in the contract. Multi-DJ companies may send whoever is free.
Ask what's included for the ceremony. Mics for the officiant and vows, plus a speaker for the ceremony space.
Ask about backup equipment and insurance. Many venues require a certificate of insurance.
Get every possible fee in writing. Overtime, travel, generator, and venue-related costs.
Ask for photos from your venue. A DJ who has worked your room knows where the dance floor and power are.
